Whilst our saying this week is applicable to giving in so many ways – as we have mentioned recently the simple gift of a ‘smile’, the gift of a ‘compliment’ or a ‘helping hand’... This week we feel it particularly appropriate as we are specifically wanting to highlight a very important fund-raising event coming up on the 19th of June. We have supported the event each year and it is one cause that is particularly close to our hearts and in keeping with another saying that I grew up with - "There but for the grace of God go I”...
It is the Annual Vinnie’s CEO Sleepout... In brief - “The Vinnies CEO Sleepout is a one-night event held on one of the longest and coldest nights of the year. Hundreds of CEOs, business owners as well as community and government leaders sleep outdoors to support the many Australians who are experiencing homelessness and people at risk of homelessness. Each CEO Sleepout participant commits to raising a minimum amount of funds to help Vinnies provide essential services to the people who need them.”
Some of you may recall that Wendy and I attended many years ago and there is really no excuse for me leaving it so long to re-visit the event and to do whatever we are able to do to raise funds for what I believe is an incredibly worthy cause. One of our locals, who many of you will know, Colin Wheeler is a Founding Ambassador for the Gold Coast Vinnie’s CEO Sleepout. I believe this year will be his 10th year of ‘sleeping out’ – thank you Colin!!!
We are hoping to collect a few Team members to join me over the next couple of days, however, in the meantime, we felt it timely to commence our ‘fund-raising’ for the event by sharing the link below and encouraging all of our readers to ‘give’, even just a small donation towards this very important cause.
You would be very welcome to join me at the Cbus Stadium Robina on the night of the 19th of June, as part of the MBPS Team... You will spend one night sleeping outdoors, experiencing a glimpse of the challenges faced by thousands of Australians without a safe place to call home. The “outdoors” is actually under cover, as there is a roof on the stadium, although I do recall the breezes that blew through – nothing that a good pair of thermal underwear didn’t cater for and of course a good quality sleeping bag, which sadly those on the street would not be able to afford...Every donation is meaningful. Just 100 dollars can provide a whole family with a warm, nutritious meal this winter. Please help me raise funds today by clicking the link below to Donate!
