I know it will be hard to believe, but I actually started writing this last Sunday… I was looking for some inspiring words to encourage people to join and ‘get behind’ the ‘newish’ Main Beach Business and Tourism Association Inc., “Our Main Beach” and strangely I found researching for quotes more interesting than my ‘accounts’ – you can imagine…

It is now Saturday morning and after another attempt over a glass of red, or two, last evening, I am starting a fresh… When one of our Team suggested that my opening paragraph may have been an ‘in house memo’, I realised that I needed to go back to the drawing board, so to speak. So, I have decided that there is so much “News” about Main Beach below, including my ‘spiel’ to encourage membership of “Our Main Beach”, there is no need for my ‘ramblings’. So, straight to business...

We have 2 New Listings, both of which are ‘hot off the press’ – A sought after “04” style, Northeast corner apartment on a high floor in The Maldives. This 1 bedroom apartment has been uniquely renovated, with more storage than you can imagine possible in 54m2. Listed at $466,000 the apartment is well worth viewing. The other, 16/51 Pohlman Street, Southport, a 2 Bedroom, 1 bathroom unit, which has been freshly refurbished, i.e. new painted, carpet and window coverings. We have had three Contracts this week –

Apartment 2025 Liberty is now under an unconditional Contract, so considered SOLD! It was sold ‘off market’ with multiple offers… Congratulations to the happy Seller and Buyers! Also, to Carmen and myself who brought the parties together!

The other two Contracts are ‘unmentionable’, as they are not yet unconditional - so, watch this space…

We have had two Settlements - Apartment 30 Yachting Towers and Apartment 9 Royal Surfrider. Congratulations to the happy Sellers and Buyers! Also, to Claire who negotiated the Contracts!

Congratulations to our neighbours, The Local Tedder Ave, who opened this week! They are serving all day, Breakfast, lunch, and nibbles, along with homemade cakes and slices, all available with a beautiful Merlo coffee or a glass of bubbles, wine, or beer!

They pride themselves on their service, which we understand speaks for itself and is reflected in the reputation they have built in their other business in Paradise Point, The Local Paradise Point. Apparently known as “the place to meet” and no doubt what The Local Tedder Ave will become, given their personalities and the beautiful décor both inside and outside in the ‘garden’ area…

We wish them all the very best!

We are hoping that they will extend, their already long day from 5 pm into the evening in the Spring or Summer to allow us to enjoy their nibbles, with a glass of bubbles, or a ‘red’ in that beautiful garden area of an evening – Oops, I should not be so pushy… For now, its takeaway for me!

Callie’s Closet

Welcome also to Alana who has brought ‘Callie’s Closet’ to Main Beach. The Grand Opening is today. Saturday 31st August, so if you are in the Village, you really must see this amazing shop to appreciate what Alana is bringing to Main Beach. The shop is full of colour and provides beautiful and unique clothing, accessories, and gifts. I visited their website (link below) to see if I could share a photo of the shop – not yet... So, I captured a screen shot of some of their unique brooches – I did say amazing!

According to their website they are stocking brands such as “Elk, Murphy and Daughters, Bryon Bay Tea Co, Erstwilder, Yellow Bird and Martha Jean”. Callie’s Closet is located right next door to The Local Tedder Ave, Shop 4, 27 Tedder Avenue.

Our Main Beach – Membership drive...

 

As some of you will be aware, I took on the role of Treasurer of the Main Beach Business and Tourism Association, Inc. (MBBTA) earlier this year. We have now taken on the ‘brand’ “Our Main Beach”, which really says it all!

The objectives of Our Main Beach, powered by the Main Beach Business and Tourism Association, Inc., are as the website says – “to see that the social, economic and natural amenity of the community are continuously maintained and enhanced to the benefit of residents, businesses and local and international visitors.”  In brief, to bring entertainment, fun, laughter, and business to “Our Main Beach”!

As I say - if everyone who owns a property in Main Beach, joined this ‘non for profit’ community based organisation, what a difference ‘we’ could make to Our Main Beach. We would like to bring events back to Main Beach, both large and small, such as the ‘Flower Festival’ of 2019 (pre COVID), ‘music and dancing in the street’, foodfests – the list goes on…

So, please be part of “Our Main Beach”, join the MBBTA and support our Village and our Community via the link below.
